PREFIX NEGATION IN ENGLISH, GERMAN, AND MACEDONIAN LANGUAGE IN THE TEACHING PROCESS - ANALYSIS OF EXPLICIT LEXICAL PREFIX NEGATIONS

Abstract

The main topic of this paper is prefix negation as a lexical unit in English and German language compared to the negation in the mother (Macedonian) tongue from the point of view of students’ who study English and German as a first or second foreign language and encounter many problems in relation this lexical category, negation. The aim of this paper is to research the similarities and differences between the negations in the three languages through the answers given by the fourth year students at the Departments of English Language and
Literature and German Language and Literature, which will make the process of studying English and German as foreign languages easier for Macedonian students. In the theoretical part of the paper a special review of negation is given in the fields of philosophy, logic and linguistics, while in the practical part an analysis will be given of the representation of negations in both languages and an analysis of the explicit lexical and morphological bearers of the negation through appropriate examples.
