Abstract

This paper is meant to help school counsellors run effective small groups. Successful educational counselling of school’s class has a clear outline purpose and a plan. The purpose of the counselling school’s class should be to reach the group goals and to help the individual student. There should be a plan set on how this purpose will be achieved. One focus of a school’s class should be on the process that occurs during the meeting. Counselling groups in school should be dependable. Successful educational counselling in classroom has positive role
models. The most important role model in a group is the teacher. The teacher must demonstrate the behaviours desired from the students. It is essential the teacher keep notes from each meeting. The notes don’t need to be elaborate, but they should cover the key points of the class meeting. Successful educational counselling should also have closure. There should be closure at the end of each meeting. Class members should get time to talk about what they learned, how they liked or disliked class, and how they feel about it ending.
