Abstract

The author of the paper addresses the phenomenological, aetiological and victimological aspects of traffic delinquency in our country in the period 2010-2017. In addition, the author proposes measures for prevention of this form of delinquency.

Traffic delinquency is a massive and individual negative social phenomenon that has the consequence of causing human suffering, causing material and other damage and disorienting the traffic itself.

In the Republic of North Macedonia, every 55 hours there is one victim in traffic accidents, on average 158 people die every year, and on one died in a car accident, 40 people are severely suffering. The number of children victims of road accidents remains high. Most of the victims are passengers in motor vehicles and passengers in other means of transport, as well as pedestrians.

The aetiology of traffic delinquency is multifactorial, however, subjective factors dominate, though, and objective factors have a significant impact. More than 90% of traffic accidents are a result of a subjective factor, such as speeding, failure to comply with rules of priority, lack of side and direction of movement, irregular movement, and turning and driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the results of the research, the author concludes that the incidence of victims of traffic delinquencies is relatively high; hence, urgently measures should be taken to combat, prevent and reduce traffic delinquency.
