Abstract

The communication from the Latin word communication, which in the broadest sense of the word is defined as the transmission of information from person to person and is a synonym for human interaction. Communication is the transmission of information from one person to another. Communication is the sharing of information between two or more individuals or groups in order to achieve mutual understanding. The basis of communication is to achieve mutual understanding. If this is not achieved then we can not talk about effective and efficient communication. From the very definition we can conclude that communication is a powerful means of building personal and professional relationships. As a two-way processĀ it is built on the principle of mutual respect and the ability to show it. Successful communication is a condition or a consequence of good interpersonal relationships. Therefore, good interpersonal relationships and atmosphere in an organization are directly dependent on the communication skills used by employees. It is important for both holders of manegerial functions and ordinaty employees to have good communication. Verbal communication in humans is actually spoken communication. In addition to verbal communication that uses the word (verba), ie the natural speech of man, we also have non-verbal communication, where communication is by other means (with gestures, eyes, facial expressions, images). And in that case, the spoken communication is not used. We have horizontal and vertical communication (meetings and collegiate) among the employees in the local government units. This paper attempts to conduct a survey showing the internal communication (horizontal and vertical) between the employees in the local government units.

Key words: Mayor, council, communication, horizontal, vertical, meeting, collegiate
