Abstract

Efficient utilization of panel materials represents a crtitical economic and environmental factor in furniture manufacturing, partcularly in the production of custom cabinet systems. Materail waste generated during panel cutting directly impacts production costs and resource efficiency. This study evaluates material utilization efficiency across three different cutting preparation approaches: conventional optimization using Optimic, design-based layout using Corpus and an integrated CAD-CAM workflow combining Corpus and Ardis, softwere synchronized with machine-specific cutting parameters.

The expiremental analysis was conducted in real production conditions in microentereprise for the production of custom-made cabinet furniture, using identical pieces of furniture and creating a scheme for cutting the material in the three diferent ways in an appropriate software. Material utilization was calculated as the ratio between total component area and total board area, expressed as a percentage.

Results indicate that the integrated CAD-CAM workflow achieved the highest material utilization rate, outperforming both conventional and standalon CAD-based methods. The findings confirm that software integration aligned with production equipment characteristics enhances optimization efficiency and provides measurable economic benefits.

This study contributes empirical industrial data to the field of panel cutting optimization and demonstrates the practical advantages of integrated digital workflowa in contemporary furniture manufacturing.
