SYNTAX-STYLISTIC FEATURES OF COMPARATIVE STRUCTURES IN THE NOVEL WE, DELETED BY S. VLADUŠIĆ

Abstract

The paper deals with the structural types and functional values of the comparative structures in Vladušić’s video-game novel, which is the first cyber novel in the Serbian literature, the narration of which connects two worlds – real and virtual. Comparative structures are most frequently realized by the use of the comparative word as (if), which is not solely the main constructive element but the intertextual signal of Vladušić’s storytelling. The characters in the novel act as if they dwelled in the two overlapping worlds. Deleted in one world, they disappear in another, just like they vanish in the real world. The unusual frequency of the mentioned structures in the novel signal that their functional value is not exclusively stylistic, that is, we do not perceive them only as a figure of speech, but as a narrative figure as well.
