NATIONAL MEASURES FOR GENDER EQUALITY AND ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE OF WOMEN
Abstract
Achieving women’s economic independence is at the core of a vision for gender
equality globally. Women are one of the most widely used sources in the world of creativity
and economic growth and development. Economic independence enables the expansion of
women’s capacity to make the right choices and to participate equally and fully in all spheres
of life. It is about recognizing women’s labor, paid and unpaid, as valuable and significant,
both socially and economically. The state certainly plays a major role in improving the
opportunities and conditions for women to gain economic independence, as a basis for
their comprehensive independence and building as an equal segment in society as a whole.
Active measures at central and local level are needed to provide conditions for women to
network, greater and easier access to information and support for developing and starting
their own businesses. Women and their role in entrepreneurship are becoming increasingly
relevant in both developed and transition countries, and the national platform for women
entrepreneurship is a significant stimulus for gender equality and economic independence.
Women entrepreneurship is a source of innovation, job creation and economic progress.
Both the public and private sectors around the world are increasingly crediting women
entrepreneurship as one of the leading driving forces, especially in times of global crisis.
