Уставната рамка на Европската Унија (ЕУ) содржи импресивна низа
одредби за човекови права. Договорот за Европската Унија (ДЕУ)
во член 6 нагласува дека Унијата е основана на почитување на
човековите права, додека Повелбата на ЕУ за основните права и
дава правно-обврзувачки ефект и го овластува пристапувањето на
ЕУ кон Европската конвенција за човекови права (ЕКЧП). Целта на
овој труд е да се претстави постапка на пристапување на ЕУ кон
ЕКЧП, како и последните измени во меѓусебните преговори. Се
работи за пристапување кое има за цел да ја прифати Европската
Унија и нејзините институции како договорни страни против кои
може да се поднесуваат апликации и да се покренуваат постапки за
евентуални прекршувања на човековите права предвидени со
ЕКЧП. Процесот е одамна започнат и трае долго, но на крајот треба
да доведе до конечно пристапување на ЕУ кон ЕКЧП. Авторите на
овој труд, освен што ја објаснуваат постапката на пристапување, ги
изнесуваат и своите ставови и гледишта во поглед на натамошните
преговори меѓу двете страни.
