MEDIA FRAMING OF THE 2026 UNITED STATES-IRAN CEASEFIREIN IRNA, BBC AND CNN REPORTS

This paper presents a comparative analysis of the media coverage by
the official Iranian state news agency- the Islamic Republic News
Agency (IRNA), the American cable news network (CNN) and the
British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The analysis examines
reports published on 8 April 2026 on the website of these media outlets
following the announcement of the ceasefire between United States
(U.S.) and Iran. By applying the Robert Entmans’s framing theory, the
study investigates how each media outlet the defines the problem,
attribute the responsibility, makes moral evaluations and proposes
solutions. The aim of the paper is to examine how these different media
organizations frame the same event, as this framing may shape public
perceptions of the ceasefire and the crisis surrounding the Strait of
Hormuz.
