THE UKRAINIAN QUESTION AND BALANCE OF POWER

Abstract

The subject of analysis in this paper is Russian-Ukrainian relations and their effect on the
balance of power. The first part of the paper gives a brief historical overview of the alliances
formed after the collapse of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact. The second part is dedicated to
Russian-Ukrainian relations. The third part gives a brief overview of international politics
in the post-cold period, while the fourth part provides conclusive views on the effect of the
Ukrainian issue on the balance of power.
