Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Archiving Policy

The Editorial Board ensures the preservation and accessibility of all published content. Accepted articles are stored in the institutional digital repository of Goce Delcev University – Stip, and additional efforts are being made to implement formal archiving solutions in line with international standards (such as LOCKSS).

Until a full digital infrastructure is implemented, all issues are preserved by the Editorial Office and are available in print and digital PDF formats.

Instructions for Authors

Yearbook of the Faculty of Law – Goce Delcev University – Stip

The Yearbook of the Faculty of Law is an annual academic journal published by the Faculty of Law at Goce Delcev University – Stip. It features scholarly contributions in the fields of law, international relations, European integration, political science, and related disciplines. The journal is published in both Macedonian and English and accepts a variety of submission types that contribute to academic and professional discourse.

All submitted manuscripts are subject to double-blind peer review, and must adhere strictly to APA Style (7th edition). Submissions that do not meet these requirements will be returned to the authors for revision before the review process begins.

Categories of Contributions

  • Original Research Papers
    Unpublished results of independent research that contribute new knowledge or interpretations within the journal’s scope. The methodology must be clear and the results reproducible.
  • Review Papers
    Comprehensive syntheses of existing research, presenting a critical overview of a particular topic based on a large body of scholarly literature.
  • Short Communications
    Brief reports presenting preliminary or urgent results of current research or projects of international importance, especially where new methodologies are introduced.
  • Professional Papers
    Analyses and applications of existing knowledge to professional practice. These do not require original research but must offer valuable practical insights.
  • Presentations
    Reports of important new results, typically short and focused, submitted for timely publication.
  • Book Reviews
    Reviews of significant academic books published within the last five years in Balkan or major world languages. The book must be relevant to the region and the journal’s disciplines (law, political science, economics, etc.). We especially encourage PhD and MA students to contribute.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors must confirm compliance with the following requirements. Manuscripts may be returned if they do not meet these guidelines:

  • The manuscript has not been published previously nor is under consideration elsewhere.
  • The file is submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), OpenOffice, or RTF format.
  • URLs for all references are provided where available.
  • The text is single-spaced, uses 11-point Arial font, italics (not underlining) are used where appropriate, and tables/figures are placed in-text at their appropriate positions.
  • The manuscript follows all formatting and bibliographic rules outlined in these instructions.
  • For peer-reviewed sections, steps for ensuring a blind review have been followed.

Manuscript Requirements

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
  • Language: English or Macedonian (Book reviews must be submitted in English)
  • Length:
    • Articles: 6,000 to 8,500 words (excluding references)
    • Book Reviews: Approx. 1,500 words

Manuscript Structure:

  1. Title (ALL CAPS, bold, 11 pt)
  2. Author(s) (Full name, bold, 11 pt, with superscript for affiliations)
  3. Affiliation(s) (Italic, 10 pt)
  4. Email address of each author
  5. Abstract (150–300 words)
  6. Keywords (3–7 words not included in the title)
  7. Main body of the text (incl. Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion)
  8. References (APA 7th edition style)
  9. Figures and Tables (with proper captions)

Tables, Figures, and Images

  • Tables: Title above the table, font size 11. No space between the title and the table.
  • Figures: Title below the figure. High-resolution graphics or photos must be submitted in a separate folder if necessary.

Refer to visuals in-text clearly, e.g.:
“As shown in Table 2…” or “See Figure 1.”

Use SI (International System of Units) consistently.

Referencing and Citation Style (APA – 7th Edition)

All manuscripts must use APA Style for in-text citations and references. The reference list must only include sources cited in the text. Any background sources that are not directly cited must be placed under a separate section titled Further Reading or Additional Bibliography.

Review and Evaluation Procedure

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
    Submissions are screened for technical accuracy, relevance, language quality, and compliance with author guidelines. Manuscripts may be rejected at this stage for:
    • Plagiarism or incomplete sections
    • Poor language or structure
    • Lack of academic relevance or methodology
    • Non-compliance with the Yearbook’s scope and standards
  2. Proofreading
    A native speaker may review manuscripts for English quality and methodology. Manuscripts that do not meet the Yearbook’s standards may be returned after this stage.
  3. Double-Blind Peer Review
    At least two independent reviewers with subject expertise evaluate each manuscript. A minimum of two positive reviews is required for publication. Final decisions are made by the Editorial Board and are not subject to appeal.

Copyright and Permissions

By submitting to the Yearbook of the Faculty of Law, authors confirm:

  • The work is original and unpublished.
  • All co-authors and institutions have approved the submission.
  • Copyright is transferred to the publisher upon acceptance.

Authors must obtain permission for any copyrighted content (e.g., figures, tables) reproduced from other sources.

All names and email addresses provided will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be shared with third parties.
