INTEREST OF THE RUSSIAN SCIENTIFIC THOUGHT FOR MACEDONIA IN 19TH CENTURY

Abstract

The interest of the Russian scientific though in 19th century is particularly focused on the interest of Russian Slavists in Macedonian language, literacy, history and culture.

From the Congress of Berlin to the middle of 19th century, Macedonia would be one of the key points in the Russian scientific thought. Those were mainly authors who had never been in Macedonia, and accordingly they would make conclusions based on what is once said and written and be led by daily political interest of the official politics.

In the last decade of XIX th century in the daily newspapers and periodicals – of different political orientation, party and scientific background: “Russian Treasury”, “European Newspaper”, “Russian newspaper”, “Russian Thought”, “Live Antiquity”, “Historical Newspaper”, “Newspaper and Self-Education Library”, and “Contemporary World” and in a range of other newspapers and magazines, almost day by day, in terms of foreign political events they did not omit any news, comprehensive information or comment on the events occurring in Macedonia.

Russian scientific thought and its interest in Macedonia would reach the top immediately before the Balkan Wars, and later became incidental all until the collapse of the Russian Empire in 1917.
