BAHRİ AND HİS DİVAN

Abstract

Bahri is one of the 19th century divan poets. This thesis elaborates on some main points within the framework of the Divan of this poet under the pen name Bahri, whose life is full of scarce or virtually non-existent sources of information. Bahri was a follower of the Khalwati order. The only copy of Bahri's Divan can be found in the National and University Library "St. Clement of Ohrid" in Skopje, Macedonia. This study sheds light on Bahri's life, literary persona, and his Divan. The aim of this work is to introduce Bahri - one of the Old Turkish literature poets - and his Divan, and moreover, determine their position in the Classical Turkish literature.
