Palimpsest is an international journal for linguistic, literary and cultural research founded at the Faculty of Philology in Stip (https://ff.ugd.edu.mk/index.php/mk/) in 2016. It is published in printed form and electronically twice a year, the first issue in May and the second one in November. Goce Delcev University is the publisher of the journal (link to the publisher's homepage): https://www.ugd.edu.mk/ The journal publishes papers in the area of linguistics, literary science, teaching methodology and culturology. In addition, there is a section reserved for reviews of books, monographs, and other publications in the sphere of philology and culturology. The international journal Palimpsest publishes papers in the following languages: Macedonian, English, Russian, German, Italian, French and Turkish.

The Faculty of Philology in Stip was founded in 2008 as a unit of Goce Delcev University in Stip (link to the UGD Publishing platform UGD Publishing System). The Faculty organizes and conducts its educational and scientific activities through study programmes based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in accordance with the Bologna Declaration. The Faculty of Philology of Stip (https://ff.ugd.edu.mk/index.php/mk/) is organized into the following academic areas: Macedonian Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, German language and literature, Italian language and literature, French language and literature, and Turkish language and literature.

 

All papers submitted for publication in Palimpsest are subject to peer-review. This journal operates a double-blind review process, which means the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa. Papers deemed suitable are sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. A peer review template is filled by the reviewers and it consists of rating scales the editor deems most useful for determining scientific merit, originality, and scope of the work, indicating ways to improve it and recommending acceptance or rejection. The editors are responsible for the decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The editors’ decision is final.

The time frame for the peer review process for manuscripts submitted for the issue published in May:

• Notification on acceptance/no acceptance and peer reviews by May 1.
• Final version submission by May 15.
• Online publication of the issue by May 25.
• Printed publication of the issue in September.

• Notification on acceptance/no acceptance and peer reviews by December 1.
• Final version submission by December 15.
• Online publication of the issue by December 25.
• Printed publication of the issue in February.

The editors of the journal are committed to:

- making fair and unbiased decisions independent from commercial consideration and ensure  a fair and appropriate peer review process
- adopting editorial policies that encourages maximum transparency and complete, honest reporting
- guarding the integrity of the published record by issuing corrections and retractions when needed and pursuing suspected or alleged research and publication misconduct
- pursuing reviewer and editorial misconduct
- having appropriate policies in place for handling editorial conflict of interest.

Archiving

Open Journal Systems supports the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to ensure a secure and permanent archive for the journal. LOCKSS is open-source software developed at Stanford University Library that enables libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly polling registered journal websites for newly published content and archiving it. Each archive is continually validated against other library caches, and if the content is found to be corrupted or lost, the other caches or the journal is used to restore it.
