DETERMINATIONS ON CENGİZ AYTMATOV’S UNDERSTANDING OF LITERATURE İN THE CONTEXT OF SHE-WOLF DREAMS

Abstract

Cengiz Aytmatov, as a specialist who is aware of the power of literature on human beings, would like to use this power for the peace of humanity because according to his opinion, duty of literature is to show problems of humanity and to propose solutions to them. In most of Aytmatov’s novels, system of exploitation is built by different examples and described as the biggest trouble of humanity. Author, in his novel, “Dreams of She-wolf” mentions how this unjust system arisen, how it is spread between societies and how deep damage it creates to humanity. One of the reasons of exploitation is misinterpretation of tradition by rulers in line with their own benefit, and the other is the implementations of modern world that alienates human being against nature and himself. While tradition in novel is questioned over religion/church; modern world is criticized due to human beings in it who brutally attack nature for his own benefits and who has lost moral values and conscience. Cengiz Aytmatov who has the opinion that the life is a permanent innovation process, tries to show this continuity in his novels. In his novel (Dreams of She-wolf) it is emphasized that both nature and interferer will be damaged if this continuity and naturalness are carelessly interfered.
