КРИМСКИ КУЛТУРНО-ДИПЛОМАТСКИ КРСТОПАТИ ВО 21 ВЕК
Abstract
Cultural diplomacy, as a soft power in international political relations, uses the means and instruments of culture to promote the nation’s cultural values in order to create a desired
perception among foreign audiences. Cultural diplomacy in this context is one of the best tools in promoting the natural and cultural heritage of a country and one of the best means of gaining the trust and affection of the large tourism market for the values and advantages of its own tourist offer. The Crimean Peninsula, which for more than 150 years has been building an image of a coveted travel destination in the Black Sea, before and especially after Crimea’s annexation by Russia in 2014, has become a competition ground between Russian and Ukrainian cultural diplomacy. On that ground, the priceless natural and cultural heritage of the two neighboring cultures unfortunately failed to bring them closer and acknowledge each other’s cultural value. Moreover, they entered into complete confrontation and relentless propaganda mode, which became a precursor to the most undesirable use of “hard power” in politics, whichh is war.
