Abstract

In a monograph devoted to fantastic in literature, Eva Mesarová updates the concept of fantastic. Fantastic literature appeared in the early nineteenth century in reaction to the cultural upheavals of French Revolution. During the seventies, the work of T. Todorov renewed interest in fantastic, however nowadays most of the current studies on fantastic literature oppose the ideas of T. Todorov.
