THE PERIPHRASES IN MACEDONIAN STANDARD LANGUAGE

Abstract

This paper examines the periphrases in the Macedonian language, their classification, their similarities and differences with the phraseological expressions, apposition and analytical predicate, as well as their other features. The research has descriptive character and the sample consists of many periphrases excerpted from the language of the press in 2019 and from the interviews with many Macedonian language speakers. Analysis, synthesis and comparison are the methods used for data processing and gaining conclusions. The results from the research indicate the following: a) the periphrases are comprehended as semantic and syntactic unit which represent second nomination; b) there are figurative and logical periphrases; c) beside the similarities there are differences between them and the phraseological expressions, apposition and analytical predicate; d) they have many other specific features.
