THE FOREIGN AND THE LOANWORDS IN THE JOURNALISTIC SUBSTYLE OF THE MACEDONIAN STANDARD LANGUAGE

Abstract

This paper investigates the foreign and the loanwords in the Macedonian standard language. The aim is to examine the frequency of the foreign words and the loanwords in the journalistic substyle of the Macedonian language, the possibility for substitution of the loanword with a domestic equivalent, as well as their use regarding the objective needs of the language. The research has qualitative-quantitative paradigm and descriptive design. The sample consists of 4 electronic journalistic contributions, published on 6.2.2019 g. on “Sitel TV” in the rubric “Macedonia”. The methods for processing the data and for gaining conclusions are: analysis, synthesis and comparison. The research shows the following: 1. In the analyzed material there are, in fact, no foreign words; 2. Even though the substitution of the loanword with a domestic equivalent in some cases, is possible, the loanword is used instead of the domestic one; 3. The use of the loanwords is not in accordance with the objective needs of the language.
