DILEMMAS REGARDING THE USE OF THE CAPITAL LETTER IN MACEDONIAN STANDARD LANGUAGE
Abstract
This paper examines certain dilemmas regarding the use of the capital letter in the written practice of the Macedonian standard language. The research is qualitative and it has descriptive design. The sample consists of the rules that regulate the use of the capital letter in the sixth editions of the Orthography (1950, 1968, 1970, 1998, and 2015/2017). Analysis, synthesis and comparison are the methods used for processing the data and gaining the conclusions. From the research, it can be concluded, that certain orthographic solutions for the use of the capital letter in the written practice are, primarily, result of the interventions in the rules that regulates the use of the capital letter in the sixth editions of the Orthography, as well as of the different interpretation of these rules in the edition of 2015/2017.
