Onion Smut
Abstract
Examinations were conducted during the 2001-2002 periods in thelaboratory of Institute of Southern crops in Strumica about Onion smut in theGevgelija region. The causal organism is Urosystis cepulae Frost. (syn.Urosystis magica Pass.).The damage that the smut makes on the onion at the garden-bed isestimated to be around 50%, and at some garden-beds even more. The pathogensin the plastic containers were examined and it was concluded that the disease istransmitted through contaminated soil and contaminated seed.References
